The Royals at the Olympics

You can’t talk about the London Olympics without talking about the British Royal Family. One member, Zara Phillips, is part of Great Britain’s equestrian team, Princes William and Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge are all ambassadors for the games and Zara Phillips’ mother, Princess Anne competed in the 1976 games.

The younger members have been out and about talking to their home team and visiting other countries’ teams like Jamaica and Canada. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also seen celebrating Great Britain’s men’s cycling team win the gold in the team sprint. All of this has created some buzz and not just about what the Duchess is wearing, though we do like her wedges.

When it comes to countries, the US is talking the most about the Royal Family. This isn’t a surprise because since the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the media has been obsessed with them (see Katie Couric et al).

The BuzzGraph  and Word Cloud tells us that the hot topics surrounding the Royal Family include “medals”and “queen” because who doesn’t love when the Queen meets James Bond, jumps out of a helicopter and looks at her nails when the Great Britain team appears at the Opening Ceremonies.

This data was found by searching ”London Olympics” AND “Royal Family” in MAP.
